Iron Lake, by William Kent Krueger
Iron Lake is the first book in the Cork O'Connor series by William Kent Krueger.
It takes place in Aurora, Minnesota, in the 1990s. Cork O'Connor is the former sheriff of Aurora. O'Connor begins investigating two events in town pertaining to a missing Indian boy and a dead judge, even though he has no authority to do so. The town has many hidden secrets that are threatened by O'Connor's investigation.
I enjoyed the history of the Anishinaabe Indian tribe, the legend of the Windigo, and the twists and turns of the story. It will keep you guessing until the very end!
