Board of Trustees

Monday, August 11, 2025, at 6:00 P.M.

Call to Order: Kathy

Present: Kathy, Amy Pattee, Denise, Gary, Sabrina, Diane Absent: Amy Parker, Mary

Public Comments: None

 

Secretary’s Report: Motion to approve minutes by Denise, Second by Amy, Motion passed

Financial Report:  Memorial Fund -$41, 333.79  CD not yet due  LPL-$139,804.13

PCCF 1-$191,784.26  PCCF 2-$500,808.42  Savings-$4,196.24 (to go back to city end of fiscal year)           

Librarian’s Report:

1.    Summer Reading Wrap Up-good participation/136 Bingo cards returned/24 kids completed the track for a medal.  June & July had 37 programs with 661 attendees

2.    Inter-Library Loan Update-AEA first drop off and pick up, there will be a lag until caught up

3.    Mometrix-new state test prep-will get more info on tests & relay to school, library website & city newsletter

4.    Teen Volunteer was very helpful this summer (Charlotte Parker)

5.    D&D at the Library-13 participants

6.    Mario Kart Tournament-24 participants

7.    Stat Spreadsheet changed will go to City Council meeting

8.    Credit Card Update-has been replaced

9.    IPIB Training Requirement for new board members (new board members within 90 days)

10. FY26 Budget -reviewed

11. Training Class: Strategic Planning Essentials for Library Boards

League of Human Dignity – 2nd Monday 1-3:00

Movie Monday – 16 attended in July,  August 25th at 10:00

Labor Day-Library Closed-September 1st

Author Visit-September 10th 5:30-6:30-Edie Goodwin-Christian Fiction book

Trivia Night-September 12th 7:00-9:00 FOOD theme

Flu Shot Clinic–Myrtue Public Health-September 24th 7:30-9:00am-drive thru

New Business:

1.    Sign bills & hours- motion to approve by Amy, Gary 2nd, motion passed

2.    Gifts & Memorials - $0/Costco Ice Cream Cart purchase entertained by Sabrina-motion by Denise to use Memorial funds, Amy 2nd, motion passed

3.    City Budget Amendment in September-handout reviewed and discussion ensued. Motion by Denise to Increase budget allowance to $7000 and Increase book budget to $12500, Amy 2nd, motion passed.  Also will need a wireless printer.

4.    Library Board Application-Motion to approve applicant by Denise, 2nd by Amy, motion passed.

5.    Library Landscaping-Would like to improve the landscaping around the building, will check with Mike Jorgensen to see if he does that kind of thing, use Vision Board ideas, could use Memorial money?

6.    Storywalk©-Current displays are damaged and hard to use, not sure how many people are using in its current placement.  Motion to remove by Denise, 2nd by Amy, opposed Gary, motion carried.  Will revisit a more user friendly/permanent display format and consider placing in the park for better use.

7.    City Council updates – Diane Stamp liaison-projects are coming along in regards to FireHall and Legion, both are ahead of schedule.
